Vintage Bird Decor

DSC_0415

*Pic of Lila’s ‘Birds of a Feather Modern Mobile’ Modern Nursery.

bird (bʉrd)

noun

  1. any of a class (Aves) of warmblooded, two-legged, egg-laying vertebrates with feathers and wings

So as I will get to show you all very soon, I’ve been trying to do a modern vintage bird themed bedroom and bathroom for Lila.  Besides the glider chair I’ve been waiting for patiently (I mean she is 13 months old after all!), I’ve felt there was just something missing…until now when I scooped up these beautiful little bird treasures at Pottery Barn yesterday…if you haven’t checked out their new Spring stuff, make sure to stop by your local store or online, they have some great things at decent prices (and great little gift ideas too!).

So in these pics, the nest and eggs are from Pottery Barn; shells are from Michael’s; and the monogram candle is from Anthropologie that I got at 25% off before the holiday (but I do think they still carry them.)

The vintage birdcage is from Pottery Barn and it is really light so I plan to hang it from pretty ceiling chain in her room.  The Spanish Moss is from Michaels (so much cheaper than Pottery Barn!).

You’ll pay a little more at Pottery Barn, $14 for a bag of them, than you would at say Michael’s for these eggs but don’t they look real!?!?!?

All Lila wants to do is eat the eggs!

Fashion Friday: Spring Fever

Living in sunny Cali, there’s not much of a Winter, but there is still a definite shift in attitude and I’m already looking forward to stripping off the layers!  With Spring lines already popping up and the hint of color grazing magazine covers, I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to get the Fever!

I’m going to kick off my ‘Friday Fashion Finds on a Budget’ series with some of my favorite pre-season Spring finds.  Enjoy!

Everything French

I’m not even sure anymore when it started but somewhere along the way, I developed an infatuation with everything French/Paris Chic, etc.  Maybe it’s from my slight French heritage :), or maybe it’s just US Marketing but from just a beautiful pillow cover ruffle to a Paris Map Memo Board, like so many others, I can’t get enough.  I’ve never been to Paris but it’s on the list, year after year it’s on the list  You just never know I guess so it stays on.  Until then, I will enjoy the pictures and decor.

Check out these fabulous finds on a BUDGET!

2010 - Resolutions and Learning to Breathe

With all the hub bub of the holidays, traveling, Lila’s birthday, moving, preparing to open an Etsy store, it seems I haven’t had a second to breathe.  And yes, it’s true, I am still writing out my holiday cards!  ha ha But at this point, what’s the rush, right?!?  I have to remind myself sometimes that all of the things I ‘need’ to get done can sometimes wait until tomorrow, hence the holiday cards.  It will be unexpected mail now and that’s always fun to get. :))

I’m not sure about you but I’ve always written a resolution list on the first day of the year.  I’ve been doing it for years now and the goal is to try to at least look into or start most of the things on the list.  Also, it’s a reminder to the things in life that I either dream about or have always wanted to do / try.  This year was no different, I got out my pen and paper and wrote.

The first thing on the list will be even more fun now with the amazing Christmas gift from my husband, my new Nikon D5000, hmm, maybe he is reading my blog after all..I guess this blogging thing is paying off!  Although I didn’t see Robert Pattinson under the tree, hmmm, maybe next year.  ha ha

Dear Santa Blog Post

So my first listed resolution is to take a photography class.  I was lucky to find a great class in a couple weeks time, I’m all registered and the class is Jan. 30!  I can’t wait.

My second listed resolution is to open my Etsy store by this March with my spring collection, here are just a few names of the jewelry pieces I’m working on.  I hope to release a sneak peak before then.

1. The French Tourist

2. Park Bench Dreaming

3. Marine Layer

4. The Vintage Mango (Sarah, this one’s for you!!!! :)))

What are some of your resolutions?  Did you make a list?  I’d love to hear about what you are doing differently so far this year.

Have a great weekend!!
